Reflection task 2

BANNING THE SALE OF TOBACCO PRODUCTS MAY HAVE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES. DO YOU THINK ADVANTAGES WEIGH DISADVANTAGES? 

One’s decision is just a concern of him. Smoking and consuming other tobacco products only interest people consuming them, so banning the sale of tobacco products is not a fair thing because of 3 main reasons. To start with, it is true that these products are not friends to human health, but if they are banned, there will come out some versions of them which will not be produced under safe conditions. The new versions of these products will be much more unsanitary than normal products, since the new versions will be produced by illegal ways. No matter how unhealthy they can be, people will have to buy them due to the banning of tobacco products in markets, so their health can be under a great risk, and these illegal products can drag people to death. Secondly, people innately tend to do things forbidden .If selling the tobacco products are banned, they can be more attractive. Hence; people who do not smoke generally can want to smoke cigarettes, pipes psychologically, so this prohibition can turn out an incited thing. Third, people should not be under pressure while deciding a thing that only matters themselves. They can be informed about tobacco products’ harms with emblems on the product’s package, thus deciding whether they want to consume them or not. Briefly, disadvantages of banning the sale of tobacco products weigh advantages.

Reflection Task 1

Hi guys!

I am Seray. I am 18 years old. I am a student at METU. I am from Adana. But I have been living in Elazığ for a long time because of my father’s job. I went to Ahmet Kabaklı Anatolian Teacher Training High School. Since my childhood, I have had a passion for learning English. I used to try to translate book into Turkish even when I was a little child. So I had already decided what to do when I chosed department of English in high school.

I am a really careless person. Sometimes I don’t even see people around me. I have never been a punctual person. One day I was going to meet with one of my old friends. We hadn’t seen each other for a long time. We were going to meet at two p.m. I got up at ten o’clock. I had four hours to prepare, but I couldn’t be there on time. By the time I went there, she had already gone. But I have become a much more punctual person on such kinds of events.

I would play guitar when I was in high school. But I stopped playing it because of a reason. But I’m going to start playing it again. Moreover, I have an interest in taking photos. I even won a prize in a competition which was about education.

I am planning to start a tennis course. I’m also planning to learn another language, Italian maybe. By 2016, I will have completed my education at METU. And then, I hope 5 years later, I will be teaching English to my students.
